Goodwill Regatta Rocks!
Five clubs, dozens of rowers, 37 races, sunshine and good water - priceless!
Thanks to everyone who turned out for this year's PRC Goodwill Regatta. Definitely a case of the more the merrier. The club had a chance to try its new boats on the water and put the new committee through their paces.
For a change the weather played fair and we managed to run through the whole programme as scheduled.
Photos and results to come...

The rumours are true!
Porirua rowers now hold two New Zealand Masters titles.
Meanwhile, our new recruits have boosted numbers out on the water in recent weekends - topping 30. Daylight saving time combined with some calm weather has given us ideal conditions for evening training.

Learn to Row response
New rowers try their hand in an eight |
With ideal water conditions on Sunday we had two 8s on the water (there’s safety in numbers for beginners) giving a few of our more experienced young rowers a chance to do some coaching.
Club Captain Matt Hall says next weekend – if they all come back – we’ll get them rowing together as an eight and after that we’ll let them try the smaller boats and split them into squads to train against each other. For more informatio see our Learn to Row page.
Location:
Porirua Harbour, New Zealand
Diary note: Porirua Goodwill Regatta 15 October 2011
Keep this date free for our annual Porirua Goodwill Regatta. More info to come...

Trying something new
Welcome to the Porirua Rowing Club blog. It's a new season and we're trying something new with our own web page to keep you posted on club news. If you have ideas, suggestions or photos for the blog please email the novice blog crew.
The 2011/2012 season is getting underway with its usual enthusiasm. The Club AGM elected a new (but familiar) committee and to get our season off to a fast start we've already had one fundraiser.
To pull in new rowers we're having open days and a free 'learn to row' course in September. So if you know anyone who might make a good, keen rower... get them down to the club or email porirua.rowing@gmail.com for more information.
